1. Choose this workflow

Encode a single value before placing it in a query parameter or URL path component. Decode reveals the text represented by percent-encoded bytes.

2. Prepare your input

Paste the individual URL component to encode, rather than the complete URL around it. Retain the original to check a round trip.

3. Follow a worked example

Hello world & tools becomes Hello%20world%20%26%20tools. Decode returns the original phrase.

4. Check the result

Compare the output with the example and original. Check punctuation, case, spacing, line order and identifiers where relevant. Use the available copy or download action and inspect the result in the receiving application. Retain the source until the change is verified.

5. Should I encode an entire website URL?

Usually not with this component encoder: it also encodes separators such as : and /. Encode individual values. A plus sign is not treated as a space when decoding here.

6. Recover from an error

Try the small example first. Read the error message and check syntax and the selected operation. If output differs from your intention, return to the original and change one setting at a time. Formatting and conversion do not validate the meaning of data.

Try the workflow

Start with a small example and check the result before using your own data.
