1. Prepare your input

Reduce supported JPEG images inside a PDF and export only a measured smaller document. Keep the original input and review the result before sharing.

2. Worked example

Choose a PDF containing large JPEG photos, set quality 70% and compare source/output bytes. Embedded text stays as text.

3. Supported inputs and limits

Up to 20 MB and 100 pages. Only standard 8-bit RGB/grayscale JPEG image streams, up to 16 megapixels and 8,192 pixels per side, are recompressed. JPEGs with EXIF, ICC profiles or Adobe color markers, PNG/JPX, masks, special color spaces and inline images are skipped. Forms and signed PDFs are rejected. JPEG compression is lossy; no guaranteed reduction or maximum-KB target. Originals are retained; inspect screen and print colors.

4. Recover and verify

If processing fails, read the error and reduce the input or correct its format. Choosing a new input or changing settings clears the previous result. Download the result, open it independently and check its content; a download click alone does not verify a saved file.

Try the workflow

Start with a small example and check the result before using your own data.
