1. Choose this workflow

Reverse the visible character clusters in text or reverse the order of lines. Choose Reverse lines to retain the text within each line.

2. Prepare your input

Choose character reversal or line-order reversal. Reversing lines retains the characters within each line.

3. Follow a worked example

ABC becomes CBA. A three-line list in the order one, two, three becomes three, two, one when reversing lines.

4. Check the result

Compare the output with the example and original. Check punctuation, case, spacing, line order and identifiers where relevant. Use the available copy or download action and inspect the result in the receiving application. Retain the source until the change is verified.

5. Will emoji break into pieces?

Character reversal uses Unicode grapheme segmentation to keep common emoji sequences together. Right-to-left text may still display differently from its stored order.

6. Recover from an error

Try the small example first. Read the error message and check syntax and the selected operation. If output differs from your intention, return to the original and change one setting at a time. Formatting and conversion do not validate the meaning of data.

Try the workflow

Start with a small example and check the result before using your own data.
