1. Choose this workflow

Organize a line-based list alphabetically. Each line remains one entry, and you can choose ascending or descending order.

2. Prepare your input

Put one entry on each line and choose ascending or descending order. Use another workflow for sorting numbers by magnitude.

3. Follow a worked example

orange, apple, banana on separate lines becomes apple, banana, orange in ascending order.

4. Check the result

Compare the output with the example and original. Check punctuation, case, spacing, line order and identifiers where relevant. Use the available copy or download action and inspect the result in the receiving application. Retain the source until the change is verified.

5. Does it sort numeric values by magnitude?

No. Sorting uses English locale text comparison, not numeric sorting. Blank lines and duplicate entries are retained.

6. Recover from an error

Try the small example first. Read the error message and check syntax and the selected operation. If output differs from your intention, return to the original and change one setting at a time. Formatting and conversion do not validate the meaning of data.

Try the workflow

Start with a small example and check the result before using your own data.
