Check the length of a draft, description or message. Counts update as you type, without a conversion step.
2. Prepare your input
Paste a draft and check whether the requirement refers to words or characters. Counts use whitespace-separated words and Unicode code points.
3. Follow a worked example
Hello world contains 2 whitespace-separated words and 11 Unicode code points, including the space.
4. Check the result
Compare the output with the example and original. Check punctuation, case, spacing, line order and identifiers where relevant. Use the available copy or download action and inspect the result in the receiving application. Retain the source until the change is verified.
5. Why does another word counter give a different result?
This tool separates words on whitespace and counts characters as Unicode code points. Languages without spaces and emoji sequences can follow different conventions; a displayed emoji may contain several code points.
6. Recover from an error
Try the small example first. Read the error message and check syntax and the selected operation. If output differs from your intention, return to the original and change one setting at a time. Formatting and conversion do not validate the meaning of data.
Try the workflow
Start with a small example and check the result before using your own data.
